Join OSCIA and the Ontario Badger Project at an information session to learn about badgers and cost-share funding opportunities in support of species at risk.
Biologists estimate less than 200 badgers remain in southern Ontario. Solitary and nomadic, badgers depend on farmland for habitat in Ontario, and can have home ranges greater than 100 square kilometers. This makes on-farm stewardship critical to their conservation.
Four events will be held at different locations, each covering the same topics. Ontario Badger Project expert Josh Sayers will present Ontario badgers — their nature, his research, and how you can support badger conservation on the farm. OSCIA staff will discuss the Species at Risk Partnerships on Agricultural Lands programs and the Species at Risk Farm Incentive Program to support species at risk.
The info sessions will be held on the following dates:
• Monday, March 20, 2017, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. – Mount Forest & District Sports Complex, 850 Princess St.
• Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Ayr Fire Hall, 501 Scott Street.
• Thursday, March 23, 2017, 7 p.m to 9 p.m. – Rodney Legion, 171 Victoria St.
• Wednesday, March 29, 2017, 7 p.m to 9 p.m. – Delaware Community Centre, 2652 Gideon Dr.
